Officers & Volunteers
President & Event Coordinator -
Colin Babb

Loc: Annapolis
|
|
Colin was born in New Jersey but grew up in Oregon,
where he rarely had to expend much energy to
experience the outdoors. He lived in Eugene where he
was only an hour-and-a-half drive from both the
mountains and the beautiful Oregon coast. Some of his
earliest memories are of camping at Waldo Lake in the
Cascades and at the Oregon dunes near Florence. His
love of early American history necessitated a return
to the East Coast for college, but he continues to
enjoy getting outside every chance he can get. He has
traveled and camped nearly everywhere between Nova
Scotia and California. As an old Oregonian who had
become too much of an urbanite of late, Colin joined
the MOC as a way to reconnect with the outdoors.
In 1993, Colin completed his undergraduate studies in
history at Colgate University in New York. He moved to
Maryland after completing his masters in military
history at the University of Tennessee Knoxville in
1998. For a number of years he worked as a magazine editor
in Annapolis, and now he works as a science writer for
the Office of Naval Research. Naturally, Colin tends to organize events for people to
experience the outdoors with an eye on the
past.
Vice President -
Kevin Yue

Loc: Glen Burnie
|
|
Kevin was born in New Jersey , where he lived until he moved to California in high school.
He was the odd one of his family, because once he got involved in the Boy Scouts, he knew that he
loved the outdoors! His family supported him, but never quite understood his attraction to
getting dirty and sweaty. Kevin went through his years in the Boy Scouts participating in
many outdoors-focused events, including backpacking for two weeks in New Mexico . During all of
this time, he worked towards achieving the Eagle Scout rank and achieved that right before he
turned 18. In college though, he became too distracted with other aspects of life, but never
forgot his connection to nature. Kevin returned to his love of the outdoors by participating in
MOC events. He will go camping when he has free time away from volunteering with local
organizations, and will reschedule his calendar to make sure he can go to at least one outdoor
event (be it camping, backpacking, or hiking) per month, sometimes even more than that!
Kevin graduated from the University of Maryland in 2002 with a Bachelor of Science in Chemical
Engineering and has worked as a field services representative for two years before changing
careers and going into environmental engineering. He currently resides in Glen Burnie , but
is willing to drive wherever life takes him!
Event Coordinator & Equipment Rental Coordinator -
Cynthia Glaser

Loc: Sykesville
|
|
Cynthia has been a "local" for her entire 35 years. Her father, a Maryland State Geologist, introduced she and her sister to the great outdoors at an early age. Her childhood memories consist of picnics in the Shenandoah State Park, camping in Swallow Falls, and many outdoor jaunts to local state parks and reservoirs. Growing up she shared her home with reptiles, birds, cats, dogs and any other small mammal you can imagine. Cynthia thought her sister was crazy when at 22; she set out for a trip to the Costa Rican rain forest alone. But in 2005 Cynthia set out for her own trip to Costa Rica (not alone) and she then understood the magic of foreign places and adventure tours. She loves going to the beach, hiking the local state parks and playing in her own garden. Having only joined the MOC one year ago, Cynthia quickly immersed herself in the club making lots of new friends, organizing events, and always striving to have fun!
Cynthia has an undergraduate degree in Medical Technology and a Master's degree in Biotechnology. After bouncing around the biotech world in Gaithersburg for years, she is returning to Baltimore to Supervise a Molecular Pathology Lab in Baltimore City.
Social Coordinator -
Stacy Murphy

Loc: Canton
|
|
Stacy is a native of Maryland and spent many summer vacations traveling cross
country in her family's wood panel station wagon with pop-up camper visiting National
Parks in the US and Canada.
After successfully hosting several social events for the club, she has recently taken
on the position of Social Coordinator. She helps coordinate and serves as the official
greeter at the club's monthly social hour. She also chairs the planning committees
for the annual Holiday Party in December and the annual picnic each summer. She's
always looking for a few good volunteers to help out with social hour or serve on
committees for the larger club social events.
Stacy has BS degree in Business from Frostburg University and a M.S. degree in Human
Resources from Towson University. She is the College Recruiting Manager at the Johns
Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory. In her spare time she enjoys yoga,
biking, skiing, camping and hiking in pretty places.
Preservation Coordinator -
Katie Stofer

Loc: Baltimore
|
|
While Katie wasn't born in Texas, she likes to say she got there as
soon as she could. She grew up south of Houston, and really doesn't remember being much
of an outdoorswoman, except a few camping trips as a Girl Scout. Always looking to
try new things, as she moved to California, back to Texas, Boston, and lately
Maryland, she's been skiing, snowboarding, hiking, skating, waterskiing, ocean
kayaking and whitewater rafting. Her roommate introduced her to the MOC in April
2003, where the constant variety feeds her short attention span.
Katie has a master's degree in science journalism that she puts to work at the Maryland
Science Center in Baltimore, MD. Katie's other interests include (among others) dancing,
trivia, and talking in the third person.
Newsletter Editor -
Jennifer Adach

Loc: Wash., D.C.
|
|
New to the world of outdoor adventure, Jennifer joined MOC in March 2005.
She had a brief one-day stint with the Brownies when she was five, but
cracked during the pressure of making lanyards. Jennifer's first camping
trip was in 2004 where she was instantly bitten by the bug (strangely, both
figuratively and literally). She now enjoys exploring all that the area has
to offer. Jennifer grew up on Long Island, NY, and now lives in Adams
Morgan. Despite living in D.C. for eleven years, she still wonders why
people laugh when she asks for coffee. She has a background in both
journalism and public relations.

Web Developer -
Keith Ellis

Loc: Crofton
|
|
Keith was born in Ft. Stewart(Savannah), GA, and as you will tell from his accent,
he didn't stay there very long. An Army brat, Keith moved around much of his younger life.
This gave an early start to his love of adventure and seeing new places. Along the way, his
parent's love for the outdoors quickly rubbed off on him and he found himself most at
peace when in the outdoors.
As for Keith's current situation, he is a software engineer and married to a beautiful
woman (both inside and out) Tressa Ellis, who is also a member of the club. He enjoys
the outdoors, computers, and spending time with friends and family.

mighty good on one's resume).
Please remember to send "thank you" messages to our officers. They volunteer their spare time to bring
you a whole lot for free (no membership fees). These messages help to make them feel like their work is
beneficial.
