Thu, Jul 29 2010 - Sign up for the MOC's 2010 Summer Picnic on 8 August!
It's sunny, it's hot, it's summer--what better reason is there for a picnic? It's just about time for the MOC's summer picnic, which also serves as our anniversary celebration as a club. (That's right, we've been traipsing around the trails of Maryland and other places for 8 years now!) We'll be at the recreation area at Johns Hopkins APL in Laurel again this year, which has a large covered pavilion, charcoal grill, lots of seating, and multiple facilities for ballgames, volleyball, and other activities. If saying hello to old friends, meeting new friends, and hanging out with great food isn't enough, we'll also have a variety of fun activities, including horse shoes, kick ball, volleyball, water balloon toss (we might have to change the rules for this one, since there might be many who actually want to get hit by water balloons this summer), and dizzy bat.

For those of you who've already signed up, please let me or Joe John (joe@mdoutdoorclub.org) know if you can volunteer a little of your time during the picnic for various tasks such as coordinating one or more activities or food preparation.

Fri, May 21 2010 - MOC Social moves to Ram's Head Tavern
Starting June 8th, the MOC Social Hour will move to the Ram's Head Tavern in Savage, MD. Ram's Head Tavern has a Happy Hour with discounted drinks from 4pm to 7pm and free food from 5pm to 7pm. To take advantage of discounted drinks and free food the social will now start at 6pm, but feel free to arrive whenever you want.

name: Maryland Explorer. Here, MOC Officers share in-depth club news,
outdoor and gear tips, area alerts, and more.
